Movement Building Lead, Roving – Ukraine Crisis Response
The Mission of the Movement Building Lead, Roving in the Ukraine Crisis Response is roving to support VOICE’s emergency response work in Poland, Slovakia, Hungary (and likely Romania and Moldova) through highlighting and supporting women’s leadership, with the ultimate goal of enhancing the protective environment for women and girls in all their diversity and other at-risk groups affected by the Ukraine crisis.
The Movement Building Lead will contribute to mission success by working directly with activists and groups to identify and respond to the different humanitarian needs of women and girls, particularly through organizations, networks, and collectives they lead, relationship building, civil society strategizing, networking and coalition building, knowledge sharing, policy and advocacy analysis, donor relations, technical assistance, capacity strengthening and training, project management (including reporting), defining a learning agenda, and aligning operational systems.
Responsibilities / Outcomes
- Lead on movement building work with key partners across Eastern Europe within the Ukraine Crisis Response and beyond (in Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, Moldova, Romania, and Ukraine).
- Work with and identify key women’s rights organizations and groups to support their efforts in the refugee response, as well as overall movement building work to ensure organizations exist well past this emergency response and are strengthened for future crises and responsive to the needs of women and girls in Eastern Europe.
- Support donor reporting and monitoring and evaluation of activities under our partnership agreements with VOICE’s donors
- Develop technical guidance and support for organizations based on their needs and requests to support their current and future work.
- Support in country-level coordination efforts and ensure that key messages are reaching local organizations. Ensure the voices of local organizations are present and supported to represent the needs of women and girls in specific coordination structures through working with the Coordination Technical Lead.
- Develop advocacy messages with and on behalf of organizations and groups in all countries affected by the war in Ukraine and how it pertains to VOICE’s work as well as our key INGO partners. Work with partners to co-develop and circulate updated, strategic advocacy messages to humanitarian leaders, donors, and other key policymakers, as well as co-designing programming to promote access to essential services for women and girls.
- On-going mapping of key WROs, networks and collectives in Ukraine and Eastern Europe from the perspective of service delivery, funding needs, capacity strengthening and security. Further develop the methodology and approach to providing emergency cash to WROs, activists groups, networks, and collectives in full coordination with Urgent Action Fund and other key groups and feminist funders.
- Support on the ground teams in conceptualizing and implementing on-going regional assessments to analyze the evolving gender and protection issues surrounding the fluid refugee crisis to ultimately support partnership work in the region, and cross-share, map and link civil society groups, networks, coalitions and movements around common challenges and solutions.
- Co-develop workplans and approaches to support movement building and organizations’ work, both with the VOICE team, as well as key local partners to ensure the capture of innovative approaches to accompaniment, including but not limited to, project assessment and management and civil society partnership, networking and coalition building.
