VOICE is deeply committed to advancing reproductive justice as a fundamental part of our mission to empower women and girls in crisis and disaster settings. We recognize that access to reproductive health services and the ability to make autonomous decisions about one’s body are critical rights, particularly in emergency contexts where these rights are often threatened or denied.
Women and girls in conflict zones, displaced communities, and disaster-affected regions face increased barriers to reproductive healthcare, including limited access to contraception, safe maternal care, and abortion services. These challenges are further compounded by the erosion of reproductive rights globally and the heightened risk of gender-based violence in crises.
At VOICE, we work to ensure that reproductive justice is central to crisis response. This includes advocating for comprehensive sexual and reproductive healthcare in humanitarian aid efforts, addressing the specific reproductive needs of women and girls, and ensuring that their voices are integral to the design of health services and policies. We partner with local women-led and gender-diverse organizations to advocate for reproductive rights, provide support to survivors of sexual violence, and promote safe, accessible healthcare for women and girls in crisis contexts.
By integrating reproductive justice into our broader focus on gender equality, VOICE aims to dismantle the structural barriers that prevent women and girls from exercising their full rights, ensuring that they have the power, resources, and agency to make decisions about their own bodies and futures, even in the most challenging circumstances.
