How the Humanitarian System is Failing in its Commitments to End Violence Against Women and Girls.
VOICE partnered with the IRC for a detailed study regarding the major gap in funding going to violence against women and girls (VAWG) in humanitarian contexts.
Key findings showed that funding allocated specifically to VAWG in emergencies between 2016 and 2018 amounted to only $51.7 million of the $41.5 billion allocated for humanitarian response over the three years.
The report launched on 10 June 2019. This report was highlighted during the Oslo Conference on Ending Sexual and Gender-based Violence in Humanitarian settings which brought together 167 national and international civil society organizations and representatives from 100 nations, global leaders and regional and international organizations. This report was also highlighted during the 2019 Women Deliver conference which brought together over 8,000 people from around the world for one of the largest events on gender-equality and health, rights and wellbeing of women and girls.
